The 1st Annual Green Dot Ball: A Benefit for Great Public Schools was held on Monday, October 29, 2007, at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Over 700 guests enjoyed a spectacular night under the stars.
Green Dot honored our Champions of Great Public Schools, without whom we would not be where we are today:
- Eli Broad: business and civic leader and philanthropist who has contributed over $14 million to Green Dot.
- Andy Stern: president of Service Employees International Union, who has supported the growth of Green Dot and the Los Angeles Parents Union, an organization of concerned parents pushing for the transformation of LA’s failing schools. He is fighting for better educational opportunities for children of SEIU members and the neighborhoods they live in.
- Oscar De La Hoya: boxer, businessman, philanthropist who has donated his name, land, funds, and time to build a Green Dot school in his home neighborhood of Boyle Heights.
- The Educators of Green Dot: committed and hardworking professionals who prepare our students for college, leadership, and life.
Thank you to all of our supporters who helped make this night a success!
