Ánimo

Ánimo is a Spanish word that means “vigor, mind, spirit, valor, and the courage to overcome odds.”

Our Mission

The Mission of Animo South Los Angeles Charter High School is to prepare ethnically and economically diverse students for college, leadership, and life through innovative instruction, a rigorous curriculum, the use of technology, and the development of leadership. We aim to achieve our mission by creating a student-centered environment that unifies the efforts of family, community, and school to foster life-long learning, cross cultural competency, social responsibility, and academic excellence.

History

Ánimo South Los Angeles is a free public high school. It is part of a series of Green Dot Public Schools founded by Steve Barr in 1989. All Ánimo schools are model schools with high test scores, where 75% of students are accepted to four-year colleges.

Recruiting College Bound Students

  • Students will have the opportunity to attend Southwest College while in high school.
