Green Dot is a non-profit organization that runs a network of charter high schools in the Los Angeles area. Founder Steve Barr started the first charter school in 2000 and there are currently 12 Green Dot schools. Parents and students choose Green Dot because of its academic track record. Approximately 80% of Green Dot students have graduated high school in four years, 95% of students continue on to college, and 100% of Green Dot graduates meet the University of California A-G eligibility requirements. In contrast, over the last five years, only 28% of Locke students have graduated high school in four years and less than 10% have completed the minimum coursework to apply to a college or university.
